WHEN Kristyn was 16 she went to see a psychic. After consulting a crystal ball and a few shrivelled up tea leaves, the clairvoyant said Kristyn would fall in love with a plumber, whom she had already met, and that they would marry when she turned 23.
True to her word, seven years later, Kristyn, 23, a personal assistant, married a plumber named Dean, 26.
Kristyn, who had briefly met Dean through a high school friend when she was 16, didn't realise the cute teenage boy with blue eyes and blond hair would one day become a plumber and the husband that fate had chosen for her.
Kristyn had long forgotten about her meeting with the psychic when she bumped into Dean again in 2004 at a local nightspot. "My mum reminded me once I met Dean and told her his occupation," Kristyn says.
Instead of asking the bride's father for his daughter's hand, a brave Dean sat Kristyn's entire family down, including parents and two sisters, and sought their blessing before proposing. After a day at the races Dean presented Kristyn with a ring he helped design.
"I was thrilled and couldn't say yes fast enough," she says.
"I think the term, 'burning a hole in his pocket' is the best way to describe our proposal. Dean couldn't wait to ask and I couldn't wait to accept."
Eighteen months later Kristyn and Dean were married in the Hunter Valley in a ceremony attended by 70 guests.
After a honeymoon on Daydream Island they are already talking about children and, according to the psychic, three are on the cards.
The cake A white chocolate, two-tier shard cake from The Sweetest Things at Avoca Beach was served with strawberries and ice cream.
The dress Kristyn wore a strapless princess line gown embroidered with Swarovski crystals on the low-waisted satin bodice made by Bev Meann, a dressmaker in Croydon Park. Kristyn's "something borrowed" was the veil her mother wore at her own wedding.
The bridal party Chief bridesmaid duties were given to Lauren Ryce, who wore hot pink. Bridesmaids Sheena Deutscher and Linden Ross wore rusty orange and bright purple.
The food Canapes and chilled champagne were served straight after the ceremony. A three-course meal, with a main of either char-grilled Scotch fillet steak or chicken supreme with bacon, followed. The wedding cake was served for desert.
The flowers Kristyn carried a tear drop bouquet of white roses, tulips and lilies. The bridesmaids each carried a bouquet of tulips matching the colour of their dress.
